Dubai is not only an amazing place to live, it’s one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations. And no wonder! This beautiful modern city has everything from the tallest building in the world to incredible museums to ancient spice markets where you can expand your palate.
If you’re already living in one of Blueground’s furnished apartments, you know that booking with us is the easiest way to find a home in a new city. Every one of our turnkey apartments is laid out by our in-house design team to maximize space and style.
In addition, all Blueground apartments come standard with fully equipped kitchens and comfortable work-from-home setups. We even include high-tech extras like portable Bluetooth speakers to let you upgrade your lifestyle.
When you choose a Blueground apartment you can drop off your bags and set out to explore your new hometown right away, rather than having to spend time and money furnishing and outfitting your home. Here are just a few things to do during your first weekend in Dubai.
Friday: Dinner and a movie
You can always spend Friday night out on the town, but now that you’ve landed in a fabulous new furnished apartment it’s just as easy to cater for yourself. Head into the kitchen to whip up something simple like a grain bowl or a loaded baked potato for dinner. Of course, you might prefer to have the best of Dubai’s international culinary scene delivered to your door. Check out Eat Easy or Zomato to see which restaurants deliver to your new home.
You’ll do plenty of exploring tomorrow, so spend tonight getting to know your new hometown on the small screen. Whether you’re a Trekker or not, you’ll gain a new appreciation for 2016’s Star Trek Beyond now that you live in Dubai. The entire film is set in a futuristic landscape, so it’s no wonder that the producers decided to use the city as their backdrop. In just a few hours you’ll see the Burj Al Arab, Downtown Dubai, Jumeirah Lake Towers (aka JLT), the Meydan Racetrack and Sheikh Zayed Road.
Saturday: Great heights
Dubai is home to Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. Since you’re already here, the time has come to see the view from the top for yourself. It’s a good idea to buy timed tickets ahead of time. (You can purchase your ticket online up to 30 days ahead of your visit.) If you really want to splash out, buy a ticket to the 148th-floor observatory, which includes refreshments, a guided tour and access to special interactive exhibits.
You’ll want to be flexible about the time of day you visit. If it’s a humid day the city can become blanketed by haze, putting a damper on the otherwise fabulous views from Burj Khalifa. It may be better to plan to visit around sunset, even knowing that this is the most crowded time. You can also make a night of it, since the view of the city’s glittering lights is beyond impressive. On hazy days, it’s better to visit at night.
Plan to spend at least two hours at Burj Khalifa, and add on even more time if you want to visit any of the shops and restaurants located in the skyscraper.
Sunday: Garden variety
Yesterday you got a bird’s eye view of Dubai, and today you’ll experience the city from the ground up. Head to Dubai Miracle Garden, the world’s largest natural flower garden. This botanical paradise covers half an acre (more than 2,000 square meters) and welcomes thousands of visitors each week! The landscape includes a variety of oversized structures completely in flowers, including a giant teddy bear, an Emirates Airlines A380 plane, a medieval castle, and more. There’s also an idyllic field filled with sunflowers and a number of shady cabanas where you can take a break.
Dubai Miracle Garden is right next door to the vast Dubai Butterfly Garden, which is equally worth exploring. You can marvel at more than 15,000 butterflies representing more than 50 species within the park’s nine climate-controlled domes.
At Blueground, we want all of our guests to feel more like intrepid explorers than mere renters. Our move-in ready apartments in Dubai and other major cities have everything our guests need to feel at home right away and indulge their inner explorers as they experience a new city.
