Friday: Views for Days

Now that you have settled in, it’s time to see the sights! Le Chemin de la Corniche, one of Luxembourg’s many pedestrian walkways, is often referred to as “Europe’s most beautiful balcony.”

This long promenade is one of the city’s top tourist attractions, thanks to the lovely views over the city and valley. It’s equally appealing day or night, so Friday evening is an ideal time for the experience. Walk to the Rue du St. Espirit to enter from the south side, and take your time crossing so that you don’t miss a thing.

Saturday: Art Experience

There are a number of notable museums in Luxembourg, and you can’t go wrong with any of them. We suggest starting with the National Museum of History and Art, one of the finest art museums in the country.

The permanent collection includes everything from archaeological curiosities to contemporary artworks, so there is bound to be something that catches your eye.

The museum also hosts thought-provoking exhibitions like a retrospective of Iranian art and artifacts or a deep dive into the colonial history of Luxembourg.

Cap off your day of art appreciation with coffee and a pastry at a nearby cafe.

Sunday: Day Trip to Belgium

One of the best parts about living in Luxembourg is using the city as a base for sightseeing. You can board a train at Luxembourg Central Station and be in idyllic Liège, Belgium in a snap.

This quaint city on the Meuse river has some serious Sunday afternoon vibes. After you arrive make your way to the Citadel of Liège, a lovely medieval ruin that is ripe for exploration.

If you’re in reasonably good shape the steep climb to the top should be no problem – but don’t say we didn’t warn you! The panoramic view will reward you for your effort.

You can also explore Liège’s ancient cathedral or take a river cruise on the Meuse before returning home. Don’t leave Liège without having at least one of the city’s famous waffles and picking up a bottle of Peket Belgian gin.
